“So uh, sorry about the private message, but this just happened and I thought I’d let you know. Long story short, I’m temporarily living in a sketchy apartment for the summer, so while I’m at work since my gun safe is at my other apartment I’ve been breaking down my AR and storing it in the oven. I also love to bake. Obviously this was a bad idea, that’s beside the point. Anyway, I was tired when I came home from work today, and I preheated the oven to 375, and started preparing some banana bread when after 10 or so minutes I open up to oven to find my freshly baked AR.
I am very impressed by two things: 1. My stupidity and 2. Your scope is fine. It’s a Vortex Viper PST 1-4x Gen 1, and it’s fine. I can even mail it back to y’all if you want to look at it. It’s 100% still functional, lights up, the focus on the rear lens is still correct, it’s great. The PLASTIC magpul furniture is still also fine, and the rest of the AR seems functional (I did a field strip to cool it off and then cleaned it). The only thing that was a casualty of the night was the Butler Creek cover I had on the front of the scope. It melted, but I pulled it off and the scope is fine underneath. Anyway, thought you’d enjoy the story, and thanks for a quality product.” – Al
